My Interpitation of Hockneys work.....

Today i am going to do some photography work my self based around the style of photography that Hockney uses, i have taken 6 photos using a Nikon D5100 Dslr Camera, the images i have taken are of by back garden on a spring morning, Hockney also had created alot of work based on Spring. I put all the images in PhotoShop and i didn't align or make sure they are all the same size as it gives the peice a rustic effect exacily what Hockney used to do. All the images were placed in the correct position to complete the image. the following screen shot shows how i placed all the images in Photoshop

The above screen shot also shows how all the shots that i have taken are in seperate layers. Next i decided to brush the images in so i could blend them into the background, to do this i used the brush tool, i had to selec the layers individually as all the images were not grouped, the final peice of my interperitation of Hockneys work is below!

How to Create work such as Hockney?

This video in fast farward shows you how you can using Photoshop create layered collage work simular to David Hockneys, you have to cube the photo by taking squares out of the photo and then you build up your layers to create a finished peice, this looks time consuming how ever it is worth it after veiwing the end result.

David Hockney's Ipad Art

This video shows how David Hockney uses a Ipad application to create some new art, he describes the screen of the device as a canvas and by using his finger and thumb and the ability to layer elements of his work on the application he can create some amazing peices of art. Hockney uses this device to create paintings and he them Emails them to family and friends.

These are some of Hockneys peices, these show his amazing eye to detail, not always did David make sure all the images are aligned properly or parallel to one another, infact most of his work is purposley without a pattern as it gave him the desired effect he wanted. He even did some photography in which he used his mothers image and he created a collage effect on it. Another way Hockneys work could be described as is a Mosaic, thhis type of art is using little tiles of glass to build up to create a bigger picture, this type of art was used in the 18th century when the greeks used pebbles to get the Mosaic effect, this type of art then rubbed off on to the Romans who then used it to decorate houses and businesses. The Romans also used Mosaics on the floor and these were also revealed at archaeological sites.

David Hockney

This is David Hockney, he is a Englishman living in Yorkshire and Kengsington London. Hockney is a photographer as well as a painter, draughtsman, stage designer and a print maker. Hockney started as a experimental artist and put together many peices and if they appealed to him then he would leave the peice and move on to the next. He once took many polariod shots off his camera in Los Angeles of his living room only to discover they came out distorted, he then glued the images together in a grid form to find he had created a narritive. After his exciting discovery David left his other expertise and started to expertiment and continue on with photography, after expericaning many limitations he returned back to painting.
